thank you for the rain
I hear the sound. And as I look out the window I see it.
Rain.
Falling wet and gray.
With windows cracked open it’s the sound that invites a brief nap.
Nourishment for trees and plants that grow.
The watering of the Earth that is His…all His.
And as I listen and look, I’m thinking of you.
And I’m thankful!
I’m thankful for the blessing of words on paper that seem to matter only to me…until shared and read by strangers that become far away friends. Like drops of rain that fall upon needy ground. Taking it all in. Longing to be fed and nourished.
We long for the sun that shines bright and warms deep…but we need the rain.
We…need…the…rain.
To break up the dry ground…and fill the emptiness, the cracks that expose and need mending.
And so we take it all in…His Word…our words to each other.
And…we grow…
Because of…the rain.
(As we share moments here I want you to know that your words are like rain…nourishing…healing…THANK YOU for sharing)
Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like the showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants. I will proclaim the name of the LORD. Oh praise the greatness of our God! He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. Deuteronomy 32:2-3

Thank you for all of the inspiration that you write!! You put into words so many feelings that are so hard to express, until I read your words! :)
I love you Mommie.
You are not only a writer but a poet.
You are amazing!!!
And Beautiful just like the rain :)
Erin Marie – my firstborn beauty from God – oh my goodness…your words fill my heart with gratitude and my eyes with tears.
Beautifully written. I agree with Erin
I hope you know how many lives you touch in a wonderful way each day. You are amazing, the way you can put your thoughts into beautiful words. The best thing is that you share it with some many of us. So many times your words are just what I need to read that day. I’m so glad that you are in God’s plan for me. I know that I can always find what I need in your words.
I have really enjoyed the books that you sent to me. I want to thank you again for them. Thank you again for always being there with what I need when I need it. I know that God loves the work you are doing spreading his word daily.
Rain is like the tears we have shed for any sorrow we have had to endure and when the sun shines, it renews our faith and fills our hearts with love and gratitude for all we are given by God.
Jill, I love the rain … it always refreshes my soul …. great post.

God…thank you Jesus
amen sue….like the tears we have shed!
Beautiful blog! :) I wish it would rain now!
What a beautiful entry. I have always been a perfectionist and thought that life needed to always be perfect or I failed. But I’m trying to learn that we gain so much perspective on life and our strength when we deal with the rain and the sorrow and the bad times and learn to overcome them.
Thanks for providing another reminder.
xxKelly
Love it. I love the rain. Makes you stop and take a moment. I love the sound and the coolness after the rain. Peaceful and at times powerful. Love your journal and your writings.
This is so perfect! My husband and I are in the Blue Ridge Mountains celebrating our 30th anniversary. Relaxing, taking in the sites, hiking up to Chimney Rock, touring the Biltmore and soaking in the sun. Just the two of us, nature and God. It rained most of the day yesterday and that gave us time to open the door to our deck and just listen to the rain and take the time to thank our Heavenly Father for all that he has blessed us with. Thank you Jill for expressing in words what we all need to remember everyday. God is Great and he is always with us and providing for us in so many ways.
To some, rain always seems to be a negative. I always cherish a rainy day. I never carry an umbrella. I come from a farming background, so I always look for a balance of sun and rain. My favorite rain is a rainy night (cue Eddie Rabbitt). I keep the windows open to hear the gentile rain falling, feel the cool breeze and enjoy the sound of thunder in the distance.
